About

This website integrates the Higher Education offerings of the European nations. The portal aims to stimulate and help students worldwide to find and select their optimal PhD programme in Europe.

Why?

The following developments have driven the need and motivation to create the PhDportal:

• Europe is unifying their University systems: powered by the Bologna Process, 46 nations of the Europe aim to unify their systems in a three tier system of Higher Education: Bachelor's; Master's and PhD. In 2010 the European Higher Education Area is supposed to come to its full effect.

• Mobility is a spearhead: Students and Researchers are encouraged and supported to relocate themselves to another university in another city or country when moving to a next level.

We found that there is no comprehensive internet source where PhD programmes could be found and compared across the countries of Europe:

• Finding and comparing PhD programmes in Europe is a time consuming and strenuous activity.

• Through our investigation on the topic we´ve received many complaints from students in and outside Europe about this lack of information, which even left them to stay at home, or study in other continents, primarily the USA.

We consider international study experience invaluable to students´ development. Through the creation of the PhDPortal we try to fill the information gap that hinders students from finding and starting their international studies in Europe. On this mission, there´s still a lot of work to be done, we are working enthusiastically and welcome cooperation with students and universities.

Who?

PhDportal.eu is one of the information sources of the company StudyPortals b.v. This initiative started as MastersPortal.eu, a spin-off of European Student´s associations. We soon grew to become a private company headquartered in The Netherlands and with an office in Germany. StudyPortals publishes MastersPortal.eu; BachelorsPortal.eu; PhDportal.eu. The StudyPortals team now encompasses 15 professionals, active in development, promotion and sales.

How?

PhDportal.eu is developed in cooperation with several European top universities as part of the European project LEANES. This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
