Erasmus Mundus is a scholarship and co-operation programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world.

Funded by the European Commission, the programme offers scholarships to students of exceptional quality to follow an Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate at two or more European universities. Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorates form a new element within Erasmus Mundus. These doctoral-level training and research programmes will offer fellowships covering up to three years of doctoral activities. Furthermore, there is a larger set of Erasmus Mundus Master's Courses programmes under the Erasmus Mundus programme.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate porgrammes are available in the fields of Agriculture, Engingeering, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, ICT and Social Sciences. These courses have been subject to highly competitive selection procedures and have established a deserved reputation for academic excellence.
