Metropolitan University Prague in cooperation with the Institute of International Relations (IIR) within the scope of the International Territorial Studies programme, offers a Doctoral degree study programme of International Relations and European Studies in both Czech and English.
The Programme aims to train experts in the various fields of economic, law, political, historical, linguistic, philological-literary and artistic subjects, whose skills will be further enhanced by the direct analysis of sources in the following languages: Arabic, Aramaic, Armenian, Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, Georgian, Japanese, Hindi, Persian, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Turkish, Urdu and Yiddish.
The Doctoral Programme aims to train experts with a wide and thorough linguistic-literary, historical-cultural and philosophical-religious education, equipped with skills in critical analysis and knowledge of the proper instruments needed to conduct it, with regard to the geographical and cultural areas of research (Educational Sector Codes).

Our current PhD students are working mainly in the areas of literary studies, from the Early Modern period to the present day, Comparative Literature (with a European and/or theoretical focus), literary theory, historical and contemporary linguistics, and the history of ideas, but the department has internationally recognised strengths in many other areas.
