The leading French scientific university and 7th European university according to the Shanghai ranking, UPMC represents significant research potential.
Over 3,400 PhD students and around 4,500 researchers and research professors are spread across approximately 160 laboratories and 20 schools. This research potential gives it important responsibilities in terms of teaching and, in particular, doctoral teaching. In the current context of the development of the society of knowledge, driving the economy of innovation, this area of concern is important for UPMC.
The ambition of UPMC is to contribute to the development of this society by proposing, within its doctoral programmes, scientific training of a high standard accompanied by a diversified range of additional programmes of study on offer and personalised support for the professional plans of PhD students.
These mechanisms, when put into place, should ensure that PhD students successfully graduated, creative and innovative, a professional capable of occupying positions of responsibility in the companies of the socio-economic world
One of the major scientific issues of this sector is the scientific challenge of facilitating a transition from the "study of climate change" approach to the "study of global change" approach.
The doctoral School brings together approximately one hundred research groups hosting PhD candidates and affiliated to research structures recognised by Inserm, CNRS, INRA, CEA, universities... The Doctoral School objective is to allow each doctoral candidate to define his/her career project via a training by research in Physiology and complementary courses aimed at developing his/her professional profile. The research scope of the DS covers the whole of the great integrated functions of the organism and their pathologies. Indeed, one of the challenges of today's Biology lies in the integration of molecular and cellular concepts and approaches found at the heart of the study of the great functions that make up physiology. This evolution has been backed by the rapid development of efficient tools for genome manipulation, analysis of its expression on a large scale, analysis morphometry, electrophysiology and biochemistry of the cell.
Subsequent to the doctoral school recruitment process, the candidate is asked to log on to the registration web site and download the forms authorizing thesis registration. Once those forms have been completed and validated by his /her doctoral school, he/she is to log on to the site again to finalize his/her registration.
Validation of the registration, payment of the fees and student card issue take place in the Information and registration office.
