The Hamilton Institute is an applied mathematics research institute and a postgraduate department within NUI, Maynooth. The institute´s core philosophy is to use applications to motivate new mathematics and to apply mathematics to obtain better solutions to real-world problems.
The Hamilton Institute is committed to delivering a world class graduate education programme that leverages national and international partnerships to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. The institute is currently developing structured MSc and PhD research programmes through:
A strong coordinated set of specialist taught modules targeted at research students.
Incorporating course content delivered in Ireland by distinguished faculty members from our international partners.
Facilitate student exchanges with Irish and international partners.
Regular research group meetings, which offer students the chance to develop their presentation skills, and help to foster interaction beween staff and students and encourage critical discussion.
All students initially register for the MSc degree by research and may transfer to the PhD register after one year, subject to satisfactory progress.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

All candidates should have an undergraduate degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Applied Mathematics/Mathematics or some related field. Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are also required.
Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6, if not they may take our International
Foundation Course. Minimum English language requirement for the IFC is IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
