Our PhD Bioinformatics recruits those students of high academic calibre who are able to work effectively across disciplines. Bioinformatics research in our Department of Mathematical Sciences afocuses on the analysis of large functional genomics datasets. It involves close collaborations between our students and academics with backgrounds in any of bioinformatics, biological sciences, computer science, mathematics, physics and statistics.

Holders of Essex PhDs normally embark upon careers in universities and industry in Britain and around the world.

We also offer an MPhil in this subject.
