The Doctoral study programme - Textile materials, awarded with 180 ECTS takes three years (6 semesters) to complete. Each year of doctoral study is awarded with 60 ECTS with each semester of 30 ECTS.

One ECTS means 30 hours of work load; the annual student´s work load is 1800 hours; each course has 6 ECTS. Students should perform research work within the scientific research methods in amount of 12 ECTS in the first and in the second semester. Before the thesis submission, the candidates are required to collect at least 90 ECTS from the individual research work (IWR), which is divided between the 5th semester (IRW I and II with 30 ECTS each) and the 6th semester (IRW III with 30 ECTS); doctoral dissertation (thesis) is awarded with 30 ECTS.

Study program does not have any modules and it is divided into 6 semesters:

- 1st year:

o 3 compulsory basic courses with 6 ECTS each from the list of 6 (sum of 18 ECTS)

o scientific research method I with 12 ECTS

o 3 elected courses with 6 ECTS each from the list of 19 (sum 18 ECTS)

o scientific research methods II with 12 ECTS

- 2nd year:

o individual research work I with 30 ECTSo individual research work II with 30 ECTS

- 3rd year:

o individual research work III with 30 ECTS

o doctoral dissertation with 30 ECTS

Students may form the curriculum by choosing 3 compulsory basic courses from 6 basic courses to collect 18 ECTS in the first semester and 3 elected courses among 19 listed in the second semester.

The Doctoral study program - Textile materials - comprises of 25 courses, from which the student should choose 3 compulsory basic courses and 3 elected courses.

Individual research work gives the opportunity to carry out the research work for the doctoral dissertation. Within this work the students need to prepare an individual project that is usually done in one of the subject areas that form part of the curricular requirements. The results of independent research work of the candidates are submitted in the form of a thesis and publicly presented and defended before an examination board, usually chaired by the Dean of the Faculty. The examination board members are also the study supervisor, co-supervisor (if appointed) and an internationally recognised academician, who is an expert in the field of the thesis, as a member.
