The main professional and educational goal is to supremely qualify and educate the students theoretically and practically in developing new knowledge and solution most exacting problems in ecology which enable the development of new solutions in the professional and science fields. Students acquire knowledge and skills in practices which enable the recognition of scientific problems, an appropriate top-level planning and conveying of research, and investigations on the basic as well as on applicative fields of ecology, and a successful application of the new knowledge. The main general competences achieved by the doctoral level are:

o Ability of supreme scientific research and development of new knowledge

o Ability for supreme individual and team handling of most exacting scientific problems and development of new solutions

o Ability of using known, and developing new scientific methods in expected concrete and modified situationso Ability of management of supreme working systems

o Ability of management of scientific research projects

o Ability of independent communication within the international scientific sphere, including presentations and publishing of new own findings

o Development of criticism concerning the life and functioning of the modern society with respect to its scientific research and applicative problems

The main specific competences achieved by the doctoral postgraduates are:

o Profound understanding of theoretical and methodological concepts in ecology, and of ecological application in nature and environment protection

o Ability of using supreme knowledge in the areas of special issues in ecology and applied areas

o Ability for supreme individual and team solution of most exacting scientific problems in ecology and applied areas using known, newly developed and adjusted solutions in national as well as in international environments

o Ability for supreme scientific research in the field of ecology and applicative areas, and independent development of new knowledge and innovation

o Ability of using, and development of new ecological scientific research methodologies in expected, unexplored and modified conditions

o Ability of management of scientific research projects in the field of ecology and applied areas

o Supreme ability of individual and team development of new knowledge in a selected specific field of ecology and applied areas

o Supreme ability of individual and team transfer of new knowledge in solution of specific ecological problems in the working environment, where such knowledge should be implied

o Development of individual criticism and reflection concerning modern scientific research and application with respect to the scientific research and applicative problems concerning the ecology, nature protection, environment protection and related areas


Contents

Phd programme in Ecology lasts 3 years or 6 semesters and consists of:

o 2 obligatory courses (10 ECTS);

o individual research work (90 ECTS),

o obligatory and/or elective courses (50 ECTS)

o preparation and defense of the Doctorial Thesis (30 ECTS)

in total sum of 180 ECTS.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

- Successfully completed master programme

- Successfully completed graduate university programme

- Successfully completed graduate professional or specialisation university programme

- Successfully completed graduate professional according to the EU Directives and other master programme assessed with 300 ECTS

A programme completed in biology, ecology, nature protection or comparable biotechnical sciences (veterinaries, agriculture, forestry) or in medicine is recommended.
