Starting in 2010 the PhD School will offer a PhD program in Economics and Finance. This new program will combine the PhD in Economics and the PhD in Finance.
This PhD is a 4-year full-time program designed for highly qualified and motivated students. The program is multidisciplinary in nature and students have the option to choose from a wide range of electives. They are also provided with strong mentorship and support throughout their time at Bocconi.
First-year students acquire a broad set of theoretical and methodological skills relevant to various fields in economics and finance, while in the second year they choose their field of specialization. The third and fourth years are entirely dedicated to research, including attendance at regular seminars held by internationally renowned internal and external faculty.
PhD classes are enriched by interaction among students from all over the world, with backgrounds not only in economics and finance, but also other disciplines such as engineering and statistics.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Applications for the Doctorate program can be made by either Italian or foreign citizens who have:
- a four-year degree or
- a two-year graduate degree (Italian degree or foreign equivalent), following a three year undergraduate degree (Italian degree or foreign equivalent).
