The Manchester Law School is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the UK and has considerable strengths in all of the major areas of teaching and research including common law and public law, jurisprudence, EU law, international economic law, commercial law, intellectual property law and law and economics. Law at Manchester has a reputation for consistent excellence in research. Our students have access to one of the best Law libraries in the country, a wide variety of web-based resources and the School's active seminar programmes. All research students are required to undergo formal training in research methods, which is provided by the School and by The Faculty of Humanities.

Take testAcademic Requirement - Normally a Merit, or the overseas equivalent, at postgraduate level in the relevant discipline is required, plus prior research training at postgraduate level.

Langauage Requirement - Students whose first language is not English are required to hold IELTS 7.0 with a minimum writing score of 7, or TOEFL 625 paper-based with a score of 5 in the test for written English, or TOEFL 106 internet-based, or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English Grade C. The certification must have been awarded within two years prior to entry.
It may be recommended that students attend in-sessional English language courses at the University.
