Location of University of Maribor

The emphasis of the doctoral study programme is on independent research work which is carried out under supervision of and in cooperation with a mentor.

Syllabus of the doctoral study programme Logistics of systems

The first year comprises the following core courses:

- Logistics systems and logistics chains (18 ECTS points)

- Managing logistics systems (25 ECTS points)

- Independent research work (30 ECTS points)

In the second year students choose two optional subjects out of five. Each subject is accredited 25 ECTS points, while the planned number of lectures is 25.Optional subjects are:

- Corporate culture- Terrorism and logistics of defence against weapons of mass destruction

- Logistics of international and national security

- Integral logistics approaches towards transport logistics hubs

- Information systems in logistics processes

In addition to that, independent research work (30 ECTS points) is planned for the summer semester of the second year. The planned number of direct individual consultations for independent research work is 90 lessons.

In the third year students carry out independent research work III and independent research work IV, which is dedicated to preparation of doctoral thesis.

For each learning unit - Independent research work III and independent research work IV - the planned number of contact lessons is 90.

Requirements

3rd degree study programme Logistics of systems is open to anyone who has completed:

- a 2nd degree study programme;

- a university degree study programme adopted prior to 11/06/2004;

- a professional higher education study programme adopted prior to 11/06/2004 and a specialised study programme. Prior to enrolment in the study programme, such candidates are given a conditional offer and need to pass additional examinations from 2nd degree masters study programme Logistics of systems worth 37 ECTS points, including: Information support to logistics systems, Managing logistics systems and supply chains, Up-to-date techniques and technologies in logistics, Mastering value chain in logistics and Optimisation of logistics processes;

- study programme offering education for professions set by EU directives or any other masters degree study programme worth 300 ECTS points.

Should the number of students enrolled be higher than the target planned intake, students will be selected based on their overall mark average from 2nd degree studies (average mark 80%, masters thesis 20 %).

TRANSFER CRITERIA

According to transfer criteria 2nd year study programme of 3rd degree Logistics of systems is open to anyone who has completed:

- Masters study programme , adopted prior to 11/ 6/ 2004, provided 60 ECTS points are recognized at enrolment;

- University degree study programme, adopted prior to 11/ 6/ 2004 and specialization study programme, provided 60 ECTS are recognized at enrolment.
