* The PhD study programme (DSP) is designed for university graduates who have completed their studies by the required state final examination in the MSc-degree programme in a field to which the DSP is a follow-up or a closely related field. The DSP basic objective is to acquire and prove the ability of independent scientific work in the given field of science by working up and defending a dissertation, by publications and by other forms of presentation of one´s own reserach activities, including passing all the required examinations and the State Doctoral Examination. The DSP graduates are conferred upon the academic degree of ´doctor´ (abbreviated as Ph.D. and used behind the family name).

* The doctoral studies can be taken at the CULS Faculty of Engineering in five accredited areas in either on-campus or combined forms. The admission procedures take place each spring and the studies commence each 1 October, i.e. in the following academic year. Faculty

  • Science and research work is an important activity at any university or faculty. The CULS Faculty of Engineering (FE) has been achieving long-term positive results both in the field of research as such (theoretical and applied), as well as in education and in reserach development.
  • The faculty workers have been involved successfully in a variety of grant projects, and the Faculty has been cooperating particularly with the major grant agencies such as NAZV, FRVS, GACR, and has been involved even in the Ministry of Education research task. More than 30 grant projects have been dealt with recently. The Faculty has its own Internal Grant Agency aimed particularly at the support of the PhD students and young workers who have so far been limited in winning a major external grant.
  • The research results have been regularly published in scientific and specialist periodicals, in the book form namely in scientific monographs, and they have been presented at scientific conferences and published in conference paper collections. A number of faculty members have acquired international reputation.
  • In research and science the Faculty has been cooperating with other research-oriented institutions, namely with partner universities and research institutes at home and abroad.
The Faculty of Engineering has an intertwined and follow-up system of accredited fields of doctoral studies and habilitation and professorial proceedings. The accredited fields of doctoral studies are as follows:
  • Power industry
  • Technology of production processes
  • Technical equipment and mechanization in agriculture
  • Marketing of machinery and technical systems
  • Quality and dependability of machinery and equipment
The accredited fields for habilitations and professorial proceedings are
  • Power industry
  • Technology and equipment for the processing of farm materials and products
  • Technical equipment and mechanization in agriculture
The PhD students can study on-campus or in the combined form (while employed). The increasing number of applicants for PhD studies indicates the growing interest in the PhD studies at CULS Faculty of Engineering. Foreign students are equally interested in the PhD studies at FE.
