APPLICATIONS FOR ENTRANCE IN OCTOBER 2009: PhD applications for entry in 2009 are now open. IMPORTANT DATES: o Closing date of applications: February 28 (PhD program) and June 15 (Advance Studies Course) o Call for applications for FCT Scholarships: to be announced soon at FCT website. CANDIDACY REQUIREMENTS: o Fluency in English: all MIT Portugal programs are conducted in English o Proof of prior academic achievement. o Statement of interest in English. o Standard biographical details. o Submission of results from the GRE General Exam will constitute a condition of preference in the evaluation process. o Two letters of reference in English: Instead of submitting the letters, you will be asked to provide the names, institutions and email addresses of two referees. These people will be contacted and asked to submit a letter of reference, directly to the Coordination Office of the MIT Portugal Program. o Evaluation of candidates may involve an interview in English, which may take place in person or via videoconference. IMPORTANT NOTES: o The application to the program is exclusively made online, through the 2009 application form, and it will only be considered for evaluation if you complete it as described at the website. o The application for entrance in the program and the application for obtaining FCT scholarships are formally two independent processes. Students may apply to the educational program without applying to an FCT scholarship as well. However, if you indicate on the application form that you would like to be considered for an FCT scholarship (PhD or post-doc), your candidacy information will be sent to the FCT automatically. o The results of the GRE may take about 2 weeks to be known. o The applications are made for the Program as a whole although you should state your school(s) of preference when applying. At a later stage the distribution among the participating Schools will be discussed taking into account the educational profiles at each school and the interest of the candidates. COURSE FEE The course fee is 3000 Euros per year (paid by the FCT for the PhD students who are granted with a scholarship).
