Location of Cardiff University

In the Department of Radiography three research themes have been developed:

Measuring effects of diagnosis and treatments

This theme includes areas such as:

* Complex trial design and systematic reviews.
* Development of relevant outcome measures.

This work must be multidisciplinary and have a direct link to patients’ outcomes, policy and service requirements.

The Impact of Radiography on Lifestyle (TIROL)

This theme covers areas such as:

* Cancer and the patient journey/experience
* Evaluation of screening programmes and the impact of preventative medicine upon future disease rates
* The radiographer as a health educator.

Service delivery and evaluation/ professional development

This theme covers areas such as:

* The impact of the developing and recently established roles in radiography on service delivery, specifically impact on waiting times,
patient satisfaction and patient journey.
* Identification of skill mix opportunities to improve service delivery.
* Training and educational needs in order to enhance service delivery.
* CPD of radiographers: its impact and effect on service delivery.
* The value of postgraduate qualifications for advanced practitioners.
* Evidence based practice e.g. where is it happening and its impact on service delivery'
* The development and impact of the research professional.

Special Features:
The School has a Research Student Seminar Series where research students of the School are encouraged to present and discuss their research with fellow students and staff of the School.

Requirements

Suitable for graduates in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Radiography, or another field relevant to the particular project. A good Honours degree, or equivalent is required.

Note: International students pursuing part-time programmes of study are not eligible for Tier 4 General Student) visas and must have alternative leave to remain in the UK if they intend to study at the University in person.
