Dual Diploma Sociology Programme with Lancaster University(UK) – (Ph.D.)

Building on the very successful Lancaster Sociology MA that is offered in the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy at the Polish Academy of Science (IFIS PAN), we are pleased to announce a new collaboration available from October 2010 - a Dual PhD. Under this programme of study, a single thesis that has been researched and supervised in both institutions may, after its successful examination in accordance with their regulations, be awarded a doctorate by each.

If you have achieved a Masters level qualification in sociology or a related discipline and are able to demonstrate your capacity to study to a high standard in English, you are invited to apply to the Dual PhD programme through the Department of Sociology at Lancaster and the Graduate School for Social Research at IFIS PAN. The normal period of study for the PhD will be between three and four years and will require periods of residence in both Warsaw and Lancaster to work with supervisors from both institutions. Students on this unusual programme will have the opportunity to join in the intellectual life of these two world-class academic institutions and work with scholars of the highest standard.
