Pharmacy and Biomedical Science is one of the University's strongest areas of research; in the most recent research assessment round Portsmouth was in the top three for funding in England in the subject Allied Health Professions & Studies. Our researchers are contributing to the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Sciences (IBBS) where the majority of the research was rated internationally excellent or world-leading (3* and 4*). The major strengths of our current research portfolio lie in Molecular Medicine. Medicines Research is the second major area of research carried out within the School's research laboratories.
Students initially register for the MPhil and transfer to the PhD subject to satisfactory progress; students undertake independent research in an area of pharmacy or biomedical science, working closely with academic supervisors; supervision is available in research areas such as: molecular medicine; biomaterials and drug delivery; molecular design; natural product chemistry; pharmacology; pharmacy practice; applied electrochemistry; applied environmental microbiology; and neuro-oncology.
The course can be studied full-time over three years or part-time over six years.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 or equivalent.
