The Centre of Canadian Studies (CCS) is internationally recognized as a leading European centre for the interdisciplinary study of Canada. Our students are international and come to the Centre from a wide range of disciplines. Some focus solely on Canadian material, others place Canadian research in a comparative context, often with joint supervision by Canadian experts associated with the Centre.

CCS offers doctoral co-supervision with specialists in Politics and International Relations, Sociology, Social Policy, Social Anthropology, Social Work, History, Celtic and Scottish Studies, English Literature and Law.
CCS is a friendly Centre that offers graduate students regular supervision in addition to a range of graduate training courses. Doctoral students can also apply to tutor undergraduate Canadian Studies courses. Graduate students are well supported by staff in CCS and in the Graduate School of Social and Political Science. The University of Edinburgh also offers a wide range of support services and training courses for graduate students.
