Graduates can expect to incorporate into their professional practice the conceptual, interpretive and methodological frameworks of business and management research. This will enhance individual and collective professional practice and help to improve the management of organisations.
The DBA is a research-based degree, but unlike the PhD, the starting point is a practical business issue for the candidate. Ideally, the outcome of the research is a deeper knowledge of the issue's causes, consequences and possible remedies. The study may also contribute to the academic knowledge of management. The overall aim of the DBA is to develop highly competent business researchers capable of undertaking successful doctoral level study within organisations and outside academia. The DBA is noted as professional doctorate, and is therefore of equivalent standard, format and parity to a traditional PhD, designed as an innovate emerging qualifcation to meet the increasing demands of applied business environments (DBA) and in depth, independent study of specific management issues and problems (DMan).
The combination of research training and specialist knowledge allows for both career enhancement and career shifts to academia, research companies and consultancy organisations.
