Fine Art – (Ph.D.)

PhD supervision is normally available across practice-based and theoretical research in fine art and art history. Research covers an impressive range of practices within fine art, including drawing, painting, sculpture, public art, printmaking, digital media, video and installation, as well as theoretical and historical research in art history and public art.

Staff available for supervision include: Ms Lise Autogena, Mr Neil Bromwich, Ms Irene Brown, Professor Andrew Burton, Mr David Butler, Ms Katie Cuddon, Mr Nick Fox, Mr Richard Grayson, Ms Nadia Hebson, Ms Catrin Huber, Mr Christopher Jones, Miss Uta Kogelsberger, Dr Venda Pollock, Mr Gavin Robson, Professor Frances Spalding, Mr Richard Talbot, Mr Alan Turnbull, Professor Wolfgang Weileder and Dr Rachel Wells.

Applications are welcomed in any subject area of Fine Art in which we are able to offer supervision by appropriate staff. We are particularly interested in attracting research students who can benefit from not only the specific research and practice expertise of individual members of staff within fine art, but also from the extraordinary range of resources and opportunities for interdisciplinary and collaborative research available across the University as a whole.
