The PhD curriculum in Microelectronics at FEI STU Bratislava reflects the transformation of advanced electronics to microelectronics and currently to nanoelectronics. The students enlarge and deepen their knowledge of fundamental theoretical (mathematical and physical) background obtained during master study. They become familiar with the analysis of various properties, design and construction methodology, characterization and testing of electronic devices and systems for the generation, processing, transfer and storage of information and control signals. Photonics, sensorics and micro-system technology is becoming the integral part of the curricula. Graduates are required by industry in the production, development and research laboratories of electronics and related fields but also as operation, system and service engineers in a variety of areas as microelectronics and nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, sensorics, microsystems technology, instrument technology, security and medical electronics, investment electronics, automotive electronics, radio and opto-communications, mobile networks, vacuum electronics, mechatronics, and service sector. Project oriented work as an integral part of our curriculum provide an excellent training and forms students' skills in creative engineering methodology as well as in non-technical aspects of the teamwork, as communication, management and leadership skills, responsibility and marketing. Project oriented work allows students to test their ability for a complex and creative applications of the obtained knowledge and experimental experience and skills particularly in R&D oriented work.
