Our Doctoral Training Centre, which spans a range of disciplines and faculties across the University, aims to train tomorrow's leading researchers whilst drawing on world class and internationally recognised research in areas as diverse as energy engineering and climate economics, transport studies and future fuels.
With climate change presenting the greatest global challenges of our time, developing the right mix and level of skills, experience and knowledge in our scientists and engineers is vital.
This is an opportunity for you to study for a 4 year funded 'Integrated PhD and MSc' in Low Carbon Technologies within an established campus wide interdisciplinary Institute ‘Earth, Energy & Environment: E³’.
You will develop high-level expertise in a particular topic but with the excitement of working in a multidisciplinary environment stretching across science, technology, economics, business and policy.
The first 18 months is an intensive period of learning, which includes a research project, taught modules, interdisciplinary team projects and an industrial placement.
10 UK/EU studentships available and 1 International studentship available plus 3 places for self-funded international students for 2013 entry.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

A Master’s degree and/or at least an upper second class (2.1) honours degree in engineering or a physical science or related discipline degree. (e.g. Engineering; Chemistry; Maths; Physics; Computing; Transport; Environmental Science/Management; Geology; Geophysics).
Applicants with a 2.2 first degree will not be considered, even if they also have a Master's level degree. Applicants must have been resident in the United Kingdom for at least 3 years in order to be eligible for full funding.
