The research interests of the Mathematics Group cover a wide range of topics following our strategy of cohesion with diversity. The staff research areas provide focal points for these varied interests.
The present research interests of the Mathematics Group include non linear phenomena, applied analysis and differential equations, geometric integration, integrable systems, Lie groups and moving frames, mathematical physics and quantum groups, representation theory and invariant theory, computational algebra, discrete mathematics and functional analysis.
The group comprises 4 Professors, 1 Readers, 4 Senior Lecturers, and 6 Lecturers. We also have Emeritus Professors, Roy Chisholm, Alan Common and John Shackell and two research assistant.
We have a thriving group of postgraduate research students and we welcome enquiries from prospective students wishing to study for a PhD, MPhil or MSc (by research) in Mathematics.
