The one-year Master's programme in Comparative Cultural Analysis is dedicated to the exploration of how globalisation has increased cross and intercultural forms of literature and arts.

What a culture identifies as a dialogue with another culture is a sometimes fruitful and sometimes conflictual but always productive moment that reveals that no -culture" is a self-contained historical or geographical entity. Using interdisciplinary concepts and objects, the course proposes to explore the dialogues between and therefore (self-)redefinition of cultural phenomena, with a special emphasis on issues of mobility and identity construction.

Contents

The programme comprises 60 ECTS credits:

* 42 credits of courses
* 18 credits for a thesis

The research areas of professors and researchers are very diverse. Questions concerning the programme literature are combined with a broader perspective from various subjects such as:

* Cultural history
* Psychoanalysis
* Philosophy and esthetics
* Anthropology and intercultural awareness
* Intermediality
* Gender studies

Thesis
The thesis reports on research carried out by the student under the supervision of two academic staff members involved in the programme. The subject of the thesis must be mutually agreed upon by the student and the academic advisers.

Credit transfer
Students who show exceptional promise during a Regular or Professional programme are encouraged to continue their studies in a Research programme. Once students are admitted to the Research programme, they can transfer credits earned during their previous course of study towards their Research degree. The examination committee determines which courses qualify for transfer.
