The Department has a wide range of expertise that covers a broad spectrum of the discipline, with particular strengths in international politics.
The University has extensive holdings in European politics and has a growing strength in transatlantic studies. It has one of the four Scottish European Documentation Centres. The department hosts two journals:
* Perspectives on European Politics and Society (Editor: Dr. Cameron Ross)
* the Journal of Transatlantic Studies (Editor: Professor Alan Dobson)
