- a Master's level degree, either an MBA or a specialist MA or MSc in a business related area (e.g. MA in Marketing)
- evidence of substantial senior management or professional work experience, including within the academic profession, at a significant level or responsibility
- one academic and one professional reference, both of which must be received before the selection procedure can take place.
In exceptional cases, if you do not meet all of the above selection criteria you may still be considered provided you can demonstrate outstanding qualities in terms of:
- your managerial or professional experience
- the intellectual capacity to deal with the demands of the programme
- the personal benefits that you could gain from your participation in, and contribution to, the programme.
Suitable applicants are invited to attend a selection conference, which also provides a good opportunity to find out more about the Kingston DBA programme and meet other potential candidates.
The selection conference comprises:
- a presentation about the programme by the DBA Director or a member of the programme team
- an open forum in which to get your questions about the programme answered
- a short written exercise, answering a question paper that you will receive in advance of the day
- a personal interview at which you will make a presentation which should map out the way that the DBA relates to and will help your professional development, and demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of current thinking in one or more areas of management.
Holders of non-UK degree qualifications will be subject to the University´s normal entry procedures with regard to the assessment of the equivalence of the qualifications.
Many of the courses that we run are accredited and recognised by relevant professional bodies within their respective fields. As part of our commitment to providing quality, relevant courses we seek accreditation and recognition wherever possible. In fact the Higher Education Funding Council of England awarded us a quality rating for 'Excellence in teaching'.
Kingston Business School is also one of an elite number of UK business schools with Association of MBA accreditation of our MBA courses. Plus we have received EPAS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development for several of our postgraduate and undergraduate business programmes; only the second UK business school to receive this accreditation.
