Founded as Cyprus College in 1961 and granted university status as European University Cyprus (EUC) in 2007, EUC has earned a reputation for excellence in teaching, innovation, and research. EUC is the oldest academic institution in Cyprus and today services over 3,000 students on its Nicosia campus.

We are an independent, autonomous university offering nationally and internationally recognized degrees in 25 undergraduate and 4 graduate programs of study and a doctorate program (Ph.D) in Education Sciences. Licensed by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus, EUC has approximately 120 faculty teaching and conducting research in our four schools:

Services & Facilities

ADMINISTRATION OFFICES

The administration offices are located on the ground and first floors of the North building. The administration offices cover an area of 25,000 square feet and are equipped with the latest office equipment and technology.

ART STUDIOS

The art studios are located on the 2nd floor of the North building (new building) and are equipped with latest state-of-the-art furnishings and technology. The art studio I houses 20 fully equipped working stations, tracing tables (with bulbs), lockers, and celotex boards for displaying students work. Students can make use of cutting mats, vacuum-forming equipment, a spray booth and other specialized design tools. The art studio II houses 20 easels with boards, celotex boards for displaying students work and a workshop area set up to allow students to pursue three-dimensional design.

ATHLETIC CENTER

European University Cyprus has one of the best indoor athletic facilities in the country. With a seating capacity of over 400, the Athletic Center is used for a variety of student athletic activities including volleyball, basketball, corfball, indoor soccer and handball. The Center is fully equipped with spacious locker rooms, changing rooms and shower facilities.

GYMNASTIC CENTER

The Gymnastic Center is located at the basement of the West Block building. The center is equipped with about 30 electronic and manual fitness machines, lockers and separate changing rooms for male and female students. The center employs professional trainers who can offer advice and supervise weight loss, toning, muscle building, physiotherapy and conditioning. In addition, students can follow aerobic programs as well as individual fitness programs supervised by trainers. The Gym is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays.

AUDITORIUMS

Three auditorium-type classrooms (Alpha, Beta and Delta) are located in the North building (new building) and are equipped with the latest technology in audiovisual aids. Each auditoriumtype classroom has a seating capacity for 100 persons and can be used for seminars, conferences and debates delivered by faculty and/or guest speakers.

THE CAFETERIA

The University cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the West block building and can be used for an early breakfast, a quick snack between classes or for lunch and dinner. The cafeteria is also used by students who want to socialise with friends and classmates.

CLASSROOMS

The University has 54 classrooms with a total seating capacity of more than 2,510 seats. All classrooms are equipped with all necessary equipment, are centrally heated and air-conditioned.

COMPUTER CENTER

The Computer Center operates under the supervi - sion of the Management Information Systems department and provides state-of-the-art facilities, with the objective to support the needs of the teaching, administrative and research functions of the University. The Center continuously strives to provide the best computing facilities and reach as many aspects of the University as possible; to enhance and enrich the process of education and lead it to the forefront of technology. Its efforts have not only brought the different faculties and functions of the University closer, but have also eased the interchange of information with the rest of the world. The University encourages the use of computers by all students, even if their major field of study is not Computer Science.

We challenge and support students in order to facilitate the development of their intellectual, emotional, recreational and career growth. OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

The Office of Student Affairs coordinates student services and orchestrates campus life and activities. The Office supports and challenges students to bring out the very best in them. Students are encouraged to develop, explore and express themselves as individuals and as members of the community in an environment of mutual respect and safety. We are committed to instilling within our students a feeling of active involvement and social responsibility, which helps them develop into pioneering leaders.

STUDENT LIFE & ACTIVITIES

Student life is an important aspect of university education as it can offer a unique opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills. Campus life at EUC focuses on the intellectual, occupational, social and cultural growth and nurturing of students. One of the many responsibilities we have towards our students is that of creating an interesting and supportive environment that meets the wide range of interests and talents of EUC students.

THE EUC CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES

The Office of Student Affairs is responsible to develop a master Calendar of Activities. In collaboration with the Student Union, the International Student Community and the numerous Clubs and Student Associations, a Calendar of Activities is developed on a yearly basis and is circulated at the beginning of each academic year. STUDENT UNIION

EUC Student Union was founded in 1986. EUC Student Union participates in campus governance and voices student views and opinions. Members of the Student Union participate in other university committees, thus, practically assisting in the constructive development of the University The student body elects the Student Union annually and it consists of 21 members. The Student Union is responsible for organizing the General Assembly in which all students participate and present their views on various issues concerning academic and student life. The Student Union exists and functions under the rules and regulations stipulated by its Constitution.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT LIFE

EUC celebrates and welcomes diversity! Several Student Associations operate on campus to enhance the International Student community. Cultural activities, bazaars, exhibitions and social programs help create an awareness and appreciation for racial and cultural diversity. The active multicultural campus life helps foster our tradition of human values and respect for individuality.

THE CLUBS

Your University years can be the best years of your life, filled with friends, fun and unforgettable memories. The way to make the most of these years is to become a living part of University life. Get involved, there's something for every interest! Clubs and Organizations provide students with opportunities for social interaction, recreation, leadership training and enhancement of academic interests. Involvement in organizations for most students is an important aspect of their education.

The Office of Student Affairs is here to help you join a club or start a new one, giving you all the resources you need. In order to register a new club you need to have at least fourteen members. Each club is given an annual budget for educational and leisure activities and also for equipment necessary for the club's operation. In order for a club to operate it also needs an Advisor and a President. All Clubs and Organizations at EUC are open to everyone regardless of race, gender, religion or national origin.

UNIVERSITY NEWSPAPER OBSERVER

Founded in 1985, OBSERVER is an entirely student-run newspaper at European University Cyprus. Since there is not a journalism program at European University Cyprus, all editorial content is developed by a staff of student editors. OBSERVER considers itself a primarily independent student newspaper. Generations of students from across the academic spectrum have worked tirelessly to bring the university community fair and accurate coverage of campus news, student opinions, entertainment and sports. OBSERVER is published bi-monthly during the academic year and is distributed free of charge to all students. OBSERVER is a student voice, not the student voice. If OBSERVER can represent a point of view around which discussion may develop, it serves a legitimate and needed purpose. The office of the OBSERVER is situated on the first floor of the West Block building. Contributions, ad revenues and University funds cover the cost of printing the OBSERVER.

CADENCES

A journal of Literature and Arts in Cyprus is a multilingual, multicommunal literary magazine. The objective is to provide a service to the writing community of the island and Cypriot expatriate communities, to publish high quality work by both establish poets, fiction writers, and critics as well as student and less-known writers from the community. It is open to writing in the several languages that inhabit the island of Cyprus, including Greek, Turkish, English, Arabic and a variety of others. Students serve as editorial assistants and are appointed by the Department of Humanities.
