Description

This programme enables you to combine advanced research in a topic of your choice, with a flexible training programme delivered through taught modules (150 credits) in the fields of agriculture, biology and microbiology, chemistry, environmental engineering, environmental management and planning, environmental policy and law, geomatics and geosciences. You also receive training in the use of specialist equipment, research methodologies, teaching and research.

In year 1, you follow a coherent programme of study (100-120 credits) in an environmental science area relevant to your own interests. In years 2 and 3, you take additional modules necessary to achieve a total credit value of 150 and these modules include training in business and enterprise or in academic practice.

You also complete a doctoral research project during the programme and produce a doctoral research thesis of 50,000 words in year 4. Research supervision is available in a wide range of disciplines.

Requirements

An upper-second-class (2.1) Honours degree, or an international equivalent, in a relevant engineering or science discipline. Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (Internet-based) or 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
