A wide range of research interests exists amongst staff within the School. The main themes include:
* Primary and secondary health services research in clinical epidemiology and the Health technology assessment domain
* The diagnosis and management of allergic disorder
* The health and social care of the older adult
* Evaluation research in health and social care
* Health care environment and design
* Quality of life
* International health
Main task of a research student is independent research of the chosen topic, working closely with a Director of Studies who guides and advises throughout the period of research; at the end of the period of study, the results of the research are embodied in a thesis, which is examined at a viva voce examination when a candidate is required to defend his or her thesis; research areas including: does this intervention work?; research management and governance; health systems research statistics; introduction to health economic evaluation; measuring quality of life; and observational studies.
The course can be studied full-time over three years or part-time over six years.
A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 or equivalent.
