A wide range of research interests exists amongst staff within the School. The main themes include:
* Primary and secondary health services research in clinical epidemiology and the Health technology assessment domain
* The diagnosis and management of allergic disorder
* The health and social care of the older adult
* Evaluation research in health and social care
* Health care environment and design
* Quality of life
* International health
The School of Health Sciences and Social Work (SHSSW) is committed to conducting high quality research which is relevant and timely and of use to the community at regional, national and international level; this mission is being achieved by: Undertaking high quality, applied research; pursuing research which has practical implications for policy and practice; developing the existing areas of strengths, where the main potential for excellence and reputation lies; expanding the research portfolio and enhancing a school wide research culture; offering education programmes that facilitate health and social care research; fostering practical, strategic partnerships with the NHS and Social Services, other relevant organisations and individuals, nationally and internationally; creating an environment which values, supports and develops all staff within the School.
The course can be studied full-time over two years or part-time over four years.
A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 7.0 or equivalent.
