Apart from a basis of solid knowledge, the doctoral thesis demands the candidate's skill to lead a long-term project, a sound interest in the chosen field of research and a certain originality of thought. In general, the doctoral thesis gives way to publications of several articles in specialized reviews, or even of a book.

This interdisciplinary study of nanosciences combines the three disciplines of physics, chemistry and biology with the world of nanostructures. The courses are offered in the departments of physics, chemistry and mathematics and at the Biocenter.
