About

History

CQUniversity Australia has a unique and interesting history. The University was originally founded in Rockhampton in 1967 and was known as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia). By 1974 it was among only a few Australian institutes to commence the delivery of distance education.

Student services

CQUniversitys experience as an international university has allowed us to develop an integrated student support network that is readily available to students. We are committed to understanding your individual needs and endeavour to help you gain an academically, culturally and socially enriching experience from your time with us.

The Academic Learning Centre is a free service available to you. It provides a relaxed and friendly environment where you can ask questions and seek support for your academic assessment tasks and English language support. The academic support team also provides a range of printed and online resources to further help you meet the demands of your academic program.

Housing services

International Students studying at CQUniversity can choose from a variety of accommodation options including: on-campus accommodation at selected campuses, homestay or renting an apartment or a house.

  • On-campus accommodation is available at CQUniversity Mackay and CQUniversity Rockhampton.
  • Students looking for short term and temporary accommodation (prior to making a decision on more permanent accommodation) are recommended to spend their first 4 weeks in hosted accommodation with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN).
  • If you'd prefer to live off-campus good, reasonably priced, self-catering rental accommodation can be found close to the campus.

Medical services

DIBP requires that international students on student visas have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their studies. This means that the OSHC insurance must commence from the date you arrive in Australia on a student visa and must be in effect until you leave Australia or move to a non-student visa subclass.

CQUniversity has many locations; each with its own lively character and range of facilities and services as well as program and course offerings.

CQUniversity has 15 campuses including newly merged regional Queensland campuses in Gladstone, Emerald, Mackay and Rockhampton along with existing campuses in Adelaide, Bundaberg, Brisbane, Cairns, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Rockhampton, Noosa, Sydney and Townsville.

Other locations for CQUniversity are currently established in Biloela, Cairns, Charters Towers, Cooma, Edithvale, Geraldton, Karratha, Perth and Yeppoon.
