The University's research profile contains the following four key focuses: In the Humanities and Social Sciences, Cultural Studies and Decision Sciences; in the Life Sciences and Natural Sciences in Chemical Biology and Ecology as well as Nanoscience and Material Sciences. In these profile areas, the cross-department and cross-faculty activities and the close ties between the Cluster of Excellence, the Graduate School, the Graduate School Initiative and the Institutional Strategy find expression. Cooperation: Career ServiceThe University of Konstanz’ Office of Career Service is a joint initiative of the University of Konstanz, regional business – as represented by the Industrie- und Handelskammer Hochrhein-Bodensee (Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the Upper-Rhine-Lake Konstanz Region) – and the Konstanz Employment Agency. The Office of Career Service supports employers in their search for new employees and interns. In addition, the Office helps students to plan their future careers and their first steps into the world of employment.
The Student Welfare Service (Seezeit Studentenwerk Bodensee) runs different cafeterias at the University and the University of Applied Sciences. In these establishments, food and drink is offered at a very low price, as compared to local restaurants. In Konstanz, these locations include a cafeteria at the University on the Gießberg, mainly used by students at the University of Konstanz, and a cafeteria located at Alfred-Wachtel-Straße 12, which serves the students of the University of Applied Sciences. This establishment moved into its new, modern building in 1995.
